Let’s make something clear.  

  • You don’t have to resign yourself to a life of back pain relief medication and discomfort just because you're now in your 40s or 50s or even older.
  • There’s no need to bid good bye to activities you loved just because they seem more difficult or more tiring.
  • You don’t have to miss out on playtime with your children or grandchildren because your back hurts. 
  • There is no need to feel hopeless because you've tried doctors and physiotherapists, and while it works for a while, the pain eventually comes back. 

You see, pain in one part of your body could arise due to problems in other areas of your being. Simply treating the pain area does just that – treats it – doesn’t cure it.

Back pain treatment needs MORE than just exercise.

My 4-step process to reclaiming a pain-free life.

During the first Discovery Meeting I identify the area of the pain, and understand the cause and the physiology. Is it a muscle, ligament, tissue, or bone related pain, or a combination of these? I identify all the ancillary areas experiencing residual pain as well.
Then over a minimum of four sessions, we start the holistic 4-step process of curing your neck, shoulder, and/or back pain.

Step 1

Exercises, stretches, traction (without machines) etc. to stretch and strengthen the muscle groups and ancillary pain areas. Also work on posture to help reduce inflammation, prevent stiffness, and muscle spasms.

Step 2

Work on the body's internal health. Your breath plays a crucial role here. Breathe in ways that help to resolve the pain. Learn to take the breath to the pain points to reduce inflammation and increase resilience.

Step 3

Identify and work on mental blocks and personality elements that contribute to physical pain. Also identify emotional triggers of physical pain and learn to deal with them in healthy and sustainable ways.

Step 4

Mental and physical strengthening. The muscles in the area are strengthened so they can withstand all kinds of activities without giving rise to pain or discomfort. Mental rigidities are released so that the pain does not come back.
The last step is most crucial, missing which leads to recurrence of pain in future. Most people, when they have 80% or 90% back pain relief, return to their daily activities. The last 10% or 20% of the treatment is most crucial if you must remain pain-free. Failing this, you will always find yourself oscillating between painful and pain-free zones (ring a bell?)
It’s no wonder that we hear of so many people living forever with restricted movements after sciatica problem or a slipped disc or a disc prolapse. They simply haven’t gotten their back to its previously healthy state.

Studies show that 20% of people all over the world suffer from pain. Moreover, 10% of people are newly diagnosed with chronic pain each year! These are staggering statistics – and unfortunately, a lot of people believe the pain is just something that they have to bear, and learn to live with. They absolutely, positively DON’T.
Not necessarily. In a vast number of cases, the pain can be resolved in a lasting and sustainable manner.
So many people visit doctors with acute pain and receive treatment. However, sometimes they don’t receive holistic treatment. Another problem is that as soon as people start to feel better they tend to discontinue the treatment.
People are not told how to address the underlying factors causing the pain. They aren’t taught how to strengthen the muscles in ways that will prevent the pain from recurring. The issues that triggered the pain, the spasm or the stiffness, are never fully addressed. People work on their pain just enough that they can return to their ‘normal’ life – until the next time the pain is back! This is because the underlying issues were never fully resolved.
YES, there is. But sadly, for a lot of people, recurrent pain becomes a pattern. Pain can range from a few months to years – the pain keeps coming back. People begin to feel that this is just something that they have to suffer and live with --- when they DON’T.
